Through the net, making friends and sometimes end up as lovers to someone who lives afar has become so easy these days. It also becomes a dream-come-true for women to be married and lived with a guy in another part of the world, a thousand miles from home, assuming to have a better life to start a family in a new environment and people.
That is what Edna was hoping for when she met her English boyfriend, Charlie. Edna like the guy so much because he was very thoughtful, in a way that he wouldn’t let Edna stayed a night to talk to him online. He would sacrifice his sleeping hours to talk to Edna, she knew by then that he is sweetest thing ever. So when the guy asked her to marry him, Edna was on the bliss of happiness. Thus, she wants it in the Philippines wherein her family could attend the once-in-a-lifetime celebration. But Charlie don’t want to, since he said, he has problem in dealing with tropical countries. He hates hot weather. So Edna, who was so much in love with him, didn’t mind. “It’s ok. This is my way of paying your sleepless night talking to me” she told him.
Months later, Edna finally got to England. She arrived two in the morning in the airport and Charlie fetched her. Then they immediately drove to his house. When they got into the place, she noticed that it was in the middle of the woods. The house was big. It’s a three story structure that has big windows in it with big curtains on them causing the house to be quite dimmed inside. She was a little bit scared, but what the heck, she's with the guy she love i
n a big house, that’s sweet not scary. The next day, when she woke up Charlie was nowhere to be found. So she just spent the whole day touring herself inside the mansion-like house. There were a lot of rooms and furniture, most of which were dull colored or if not made of aged wood. Eventually she got hungry roaming around inside the big house. Helping herself out with the foods in the kitchen, she noticed a huge curtain hung on the wall. Having a thought that it was just another window, she opened it. But it wasn’t, instead it was a huge unusual looking door. When she was about to open it, someone took a grip of her arm. She turned around and saw Charlie. He smiled at her and told her not to open the door because it has something for their wedding.
Night fall came, swallowing the entire woods into darkness. Edna was on her nightie, ready to sleep with her husband-to-be. Pass midnight, she noticed Charlie was gone. Where could he be? She waited for him until half an hour but still he didn’t come. Worried of what might happen to him, she came down, looking him. She went to the kitchen thinking that Charlie might have had his midnight snacks but still no one was there. She had a glimpsed on the curtain again. “Charlie must be working on my surprise gift” she thought. She called him through the closed door but no one answered. So she opened it and felt disgusted
by the awful smell that the room had. Can’t see what’s inside, she switched on the light and to her surprise, it was a basement. She slowly came down and was horrified by what her eyes saw, hundreds of corpses were hanging on the wall. Panicking as she made her way out of the basement and went straight to her room, took her passport and money for there was no time packing the other things. She took Charlie's car keys and zoomed out the house. She immediately, jumped into the car, drove herself away from the house. But it wasn’t easy escaping the woods for she was going in circles, then she knew the woods itself is a prison. Moments later, she heard someone jumped on the top of her car. There he was, Charlie, turning his head upside-down on the windshield, smiling out his fangs. Right then and there, the dream she knew was ended by a frightful nightmare.

When someone died in the family, we always tend to have the vigil, for the family to pray and for the people to cherish the memories that were left by the person died. But did you know it is important to guard the corpse even though there are lots of people around. Thus someone must stay awake to guard it all night.
When Eva heard the bad news that her boyfriend’s father died due to heart attack, he immediately flown there. Since she was never been in the place, Jason, her boyfriend had to fetch her in the airport. Then, they immediately drove to his house and Eva realized how creepy the place was.The house was surrounded with huge trees like they were hundred years old.
Nightfall came and visitors started to come, some you would know were from the cities and others were just neighbors. Early in the evening, it was still so noisy, people playing cards, talking, and praying. When it was about midnight, people started to leave one by one and only the immediate family was left. Exhausted of the flight, Eva wanted to go to bed but Jason wanted her stay for a while since only few people are left awake. Midnight passed and she noticed that only her and Jason stayed awake. But moments later she fell asleep leaving Jason with no one to talk, thus he fell asleep too.The next day, Jason’s mother was quite bothered asking everyone who stayed awake all night. Jason pretended that he did.
When it was the day of the funeral, all people were filled with great sadness, burying the father. But when the evening came, it was not too long for the mother to know if Jason did stay awake that night. People still came to sympathize the entire family. While entertaining the guest, Eva notice somebody was standing under the tree. She asked Jason who the man was and maybe asked him to join the crowd. When Jason took a good look at him, he noticed it was his father. "I'm just hallucinating", he thought. So he asked her mother if it was someone from his father’s family since it looked like his father. His mother approaches the man and suddenly screamed. It was his father. People were terrified and looked what had happened; they saw that something enormous snatched the lifeless man toward the darkness ‘til it disappeared. The mother immediately confronted Jason if he did guard his father’s corpse that night, there was no reason left to lie after what he had seen, so he admitted the truth. They immediately went back to the cemetery and dig the coffin right away. There they found no body but a trunk of a banana tree.
The neighborhood took action immediately. They gather around the tree where they had found the lifeless father and had a noise barrage. They kept on banging silver wares, tamb
ourine and shouting to give the corpse back. Hours later, the Bal-Bal (monster who steals corpse) with his teeth and claws so sharp, appeared above the tree; threw the body back to the people and yelled them to scram. People were so scared that they ran so fast but eventually felt happy that they had the body back. Though everybody got so tired after what had happened, still Eva and Jason can’t sleep and stayed awake all night.

STORY I
This horrifying event happened to a very close friend of mine in college. It happened in a rural place, her home town wherein most of the houses are quite distant from each other because of the farm field.
Chris is a fun loving girl, who often joked around and doesn’t care about other people’s business. One night, she was at home, texting at their balcony outside (staying connected with college friends) and her family was inside the house. While texting, she heard a noise, chirping of a bird, flying against the wind. But it was no ordinary bird; it was a KIKIK, known as the wicked witch pet. Though she heard stories about those creatures, she never believes in it and thought of it as folklore. Thus, she made fun of it by mocking its sounds and yell “you’re too early to visit me or are you just going to ask me for a textmate”, she then laugh and laugh.
Later that night, her father asked her to come with them (the whole family) to go to their aunt’s house. She refused to go, since it will be a long distant walk to get there. So they left, leaving her alone. She just went inside the house when everybody was gone. There she sat in the couch, in their living room, texting endlessly. Suddenly, she was interrupted by a noise coming from their front window, someone’s scratching. When she came to look what it was, she saw an old woman standing. She thought she was a beggar. Chris looked at her closely and the old woman’s hair stood up, her eyes bloodshot, staring at her; and her mouth was dripping with saliva, as if she is craving for Chris flesh. Chris screamed and bravely closed the window immediately. She, then kept on running on the other part of the house, screaming for help but no one heard her. The old witch managed to find her through all the windows in the house. Chris was freaking out when the old witch was about to break the window using her own head. But she suddenly vanished when someone was knocking at the door. It was her father; the whole family arrived and was shock by her appearance. ‘Til then, she never made fun of something she doesn’t know and it never bothers her again.

STORY II
This incident happened to my mother. When my brother was just newly born, my parents want him to sleep between them in the bed at night. One particular night in November, when my mother was about to sleep, she heard the KIKIK chirping above the roof. Since my father was there, she didn’t get scared, instead she made fun of the bird and said, “it would be very stupid of you to get my baby with my husband around ‘cause it might happen the other way around. You might end up like a chicken barbeque”.
The next night, when my mother was preparing our dinner, she forgot to buy garlic as one of the ingredients. Thus she had to go to the neighborhood store to buy one. By getting there she had to pass this dark area with a big mango tree in it. She got to the store easy but when she was about to go home and passed the dark area, she felt something. It felt like someone was staring at her and she was terrified when she noticed that a KIKIK was flying above her, chirping. Scared of what might happen next, my mother didn’t make any move instead she just stood still. But it just disappeared in a split of seconds, when someone was coming. So she immediately run home and told us about it.

College life is not easy, quite hassle in many ways especially when you fall into a night schedule class. Wherein, you experience walking alone with just by yourself in a big, old campus and most of the lights in the corridors are turned off, and it is so DARK! I bit you have experienced this and does it scares the hell out of you? Not much I guess compare to this college girl named Ella.
Ella had a last scheduled evening class and she comes early since there was nothing to keep her busy in those late hours. She is not the scaredy-cat type of girl, thus most of the time she waited alone in the classroom ‘til few of her classmates came and the last one would be their professor, late. As usual, the prof. is late though there were lots of things to discuss and this was quite annoying in their part especially when the professor had the nerve to extend 20-30 minutes of the time just to continue his mouth-yawning discussion. For a long period time of just sitting and listening, often times it would made Ella wanna go to the rest room to freshen-up, do her stuff before going to a long travel back home.
One night, she had to pee; she went into the rest room and notice no one else was there but her. She used one of the seven cubicles. While doing her thing, she heard a noise, someone is coming, but she never heard a footsteps. Since the cubicles are made of translucent white plastic board kindda thing, she saw a silhouette of a girl standing in front of her cubicle. She thought that this girl is kindda stupid when there are lots of vacant cubicles, why wait for this when i'm using it. So she said, “Hey I’m here. There are lots of vacant you can use.” and she saw her moving to the next cubicle. Ella didn’t hear any cubicle door open or close (if the girl then is using the other cubicle), but then again the same silhouette standing in front of her. Startled of the girl stupidity, she ducked her head to see this girl’s feet but she saw nothing, so she thought she went right away. When she stood up to fix herself, she was so shocked to see the girl’s silhouette was still there. “Didn’t she left?...” she thought, “ how come I didn’t see her feet?..”, she ducked again to look. Right then she knew the girl was floating in the air. Scared and shaking as she looked at the girl’s silhouette, she sat down on the toilet seat, bowed down her head and prayed “THE OUR FATHER”. She exclaimed, “Our Father in heaven, holy be your Name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins as we forgive…” and stop when she noticed that the girl’s silhouette had vanished. But suddenly the door moved rapidly and when she looked up a long dark-hair, pale white skin and bulging bloodshot eyed girl shouted “those who sin against us; Do not bring us to the test but deliver us from EVIL… AMEN!... BWAHAHAHAHAHA!”
